Project scope
The project is part of the overall Kampala Water - Lake Victoria Water and Sanitation Project (KW-LVWATSAN Project), the project is aimed at providing long-term solutions to the water supply challenges of Kampala.
The overall project targets a population of over 4.5 million people by the year 2025, and over 7 million by the year 2040.
The objective of this project (Package 4B) is to convey water that will be produced at the new WTP in the East of Kampala (Katosi WTP) from the proposed reservoir at Nsumba to another reservoir at Ssonde and pump to the existing reservoir at Naguru, including the branches to the existing reservoirs at Mukono, and Seeta.
- Data review and preliminary studies and investigations,
- Detailed Studies and Investigations, Preparation of functional Design
- Additional Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA)
- Transfer of water from proposed reservoir at Nsumba up to proposed reservoir at Ssonde (39 km of DN 1400 through highly condensed urban environment);
- Connections to existing reservoirs at Mukono and Seeta (1.8 km), and refitting existing reservoirs at Mukono, Seeta, and Mutungo;
- Water storage reservoir at Ssonde (15,000 m³);
- Pump station at Namugongo (16.800 m3/d), and pumping main to existing reservoir at Naguru (13 km of DN 800);
- SCADA for priority measures including installation of main station at Gaba and eight (8) sub-stations.
