Rehabilitation and expansion of water supply system in Arua Water Supply Service Area (WSSA) to meet the projected demand up to year 2032. Introduction of sewerage systems and sewage treatment works; Provision of water supply and sanitation services in informal settlements; Provision of production boreholes to supplement the water supply during the dry season since the surface water sources at the existing intake is not sufficient to meet the demand during the dry months.
Conducting resettlement action plan to assess the project impacts resulting from land acquisition and affected structures, trees and crops and provide mitigation measures through compensation and relocation or resettlement.
Assessing the impacts of the proposed project on the environment and develop measures to avoid or minimize adverse impacts in compliance with NEMA’s and the World Bank’s requirements.
Consultancy services comprised of carrying out detailed engineering designs, tender documentation and assistance in the tendering process for about 85 km new pumping/transmission lines and 24 km of sewer lines and also included the following works:
- Expansion works for the water treatment plant to capacity of 16,000 m3/day;
- 6 km water pumping mains of DN 250 to DN 500 ductile iron (DI) and 75 km of distribution mains of OD 110 to OD 315 uPVC;
- Two (2) elevated galvanised steel storage tanks, each of 1,757 m3 nominal capacity;
- 24 km of main sewers of ND 200 mm and ND 250 mm uPVC;
- Three (3) sewerage pumping stations;
- Sewerage treatment ponds at Onduparaka and Prisons farm
