The overall objective of the study is to provide a range of options for multipurpose water supply and irrigation development in a manner that is technically feasible, financially responsible, and environmentally sustainable and based on a workable and cost-effective management.
- Feasibility studies,
- Preparation of preliminary and detailed designs, cost estimates, and implementation arrangements for the agreed development options for Irrigation development, multipurpose infrastructure and watershed management associated with the respective irrigation schemes.
- The Feasibility Study and the Detailed Engineering Design comprise analyses related to:
- Basin-wide water resources and water uses (qualitative and quantitative),
- Drainage and flood management,
- Watershed management plan,
- Topographic survey
- Geologic and geotechnical investigations,
- Soil mechanical investigations and analyses
- Soil (or edaphology) and agronomy,
- Cropping pattern and crop water requirements,
- Headworks (dam/diversion and/or pump) and related multipurpose hydraulic structures,
- Irrigation infrastructure,
- Agricultural development and agricultural support services, market and value chain,
- Land tenure,
- Environmental and social analyses,
- Institutional analysis,
- Water management and operation and maintenance,
- Economic and financial analysis in close consultation with farmer communities and other stakeholders which will form the basis for investment finance mobilization and project implementation for the various sub-projects to be identified by the study.
