Project scope
The Project Road is situated South of Hoima District, Western Uganda. It Starts at Ikamiro on top of the Rift Valley escarpment and descends through 3 km of hairpin bends before descending gradually across a near vertical 3.62 km escarpment.
At the floor of the Rift Valley, four access roads totalling 8.89km have been constructed over an expansive clay soil roadbed to access the oil discovery area on the Ugandan side of Lake Albert. The area included four well pads and Central Processing Facility.
The project was a design and build by CCCC as the Contractor while the Consultant, Gauff, reviewed the designs and ensured quality for CNOOC, the Client.
- Design Review for the road;
- Design Review entailed the review and verification of accuracy of the engineering design package including the following components; Geometric design, Pavement & Geotechnical design, Topographical survey, Hydrological and drainage design, Structural Designs, Utilities relocation data, ESIA reports, Contract Documents, Technical Specifications, Road Safety Audit).
- Additional field investigations and amendments were made in consultation with the Client.
- Construction supervision of works to completion;
Activities included; Monitoring contractor mobilization, approval of method statements & work programmes, verification of Contractor setting out, daily inspection and verification of works, issuance of instructions and clarifications to the contractor, quality control of works and materials, Client liaison, Measurement and certification of works, Financial & Physical progress monitoring and reporting, Cost Control, Assessment of Claims by Contractor, Overall Project & Contract management, Environmental, Social, Health & Safety monitoring and ensuring timely mitigation, Preparation of As-built drawings, Superintendence over the Defects Liability Periodsuperintendence over the defects liability period
